Editorial

We have applied a community prism to all of the business arrangements around Eumundi Green. There's no way we can be mistaken for something out of the stable of one of Australia's big publishing houses. It is in this area of editorial policy where we are making a difference. Staying viable and keeping true to our editorial policy are the two measures on which we want our performance to be judged.

Letters to the Editor
Contributions to the magazine are edited to achieve consistent standards of readability. Contributors are asked to be familiar with this Eumundi Green editorial policy and also Eumundi Green style policy and to ensure submitted stories have been proofread by a second person. This will reduce production costs and therefore help Eumundi Green to be robust enough to continue to be published.
Concise contributions for "Your Say" are encouraged. They should be emailed to editor@eumundigreen.com.au. We will publish the author's name and location only, but organisation, contact details including address, email and telephone are required. Anonymous contributions will not be published. Submissions may be published in an edited form or may be rejected without comment. Eumundi Green editor may express an opinion through an editorial clearly identified, usually on Page 3 or the "Your Say" page.

Editorial policy:
Goal statement: Eumundi Green: taking the essence of Eumundi to the world. The masthead includes the slogan: "For lovers of Eumundi everywhere."

The goal statement is reflected and supported through these features of our editorial policy:
   1. Eumundi Green concentrates on topical issues and rich information which can build Eumundi and district community: for example, activities of the community, council, commercial and community developments. There is enough happening in our district and involving the people of the district without us having to look outside our boundaries. Names and faces are important. All stories should be as detailed and specific as possible. It is important to differentiate our culture from coastal culture and to differentiate our publication from more regionally based media. Regional or national issues are not canvassed except as they affect the community. As a consequence of these points, content must pass "the community test" every time or be discarded.

   2. Our community has the right to independent and impartial information and to a fair and balanced mix of community voices. We readily accept the responsibility of carrying not only the majority opinion of the day but the opinions of the minority that disagrees with that majority. We also accept the responsibility for a firm commitment to accuracy and fairness. The opinions expressed in Eumundi Green do not necessarily and are not intended to represent those of the editor or other contributors to Eumundi Green. The editor decides on what material is included or excluded in a particular issue of Eumundi Green including any restrictions on the number of advertisements from a particular industry, for example real estate. Eumundi Green reserves the right to not publish advertising.

   3. We have a distinct separation, if you like an imaginary "firewall", between our advertising and our content so that our content is not driven by the agendas and interests of pressure groups, advertisers or particular community individuals. We do not offer "free" advertorials with paid advertising. We may, at the discretion of the editor, choose to include news articles about commercial things where the item passes "the community test" and is topical for a variety of readers.
